Q1...What are the advantages of Short Term Hire? Well if you have a particular problem to address, such as vandalism, theft, fraud, etc., this service is ideally placed to provide a technical solution, for as long as you require it. You can hire for a specified period, perhaps one week or month, and then extend it if you need to continue gathering evidence.
Q2...When should I consider Flexible CCTV Hire? For any period over 4 months, it is significantly cheaper and indeed offers additional advantages, to consider using the Flexible facility.
Q3...What is the main advantage of Flexible CCTV Hire? Unlike our short term facility, with Flexible hire you can choose from a much wider range of equipment and manufacturers, so if there are any particular items which you require, just ask and we'll see if we are able to supply them. If it is a non standard product, there may possibly be a minimum hire condition (for example, a six months rental period). Q4...Will I need to pay a deposit against any equipment hired? In a word .... possibly! Depending on individual circumstances, Law Enforcement agencies, Military, Local Authorities, Hospitals, Educational Establishments, Utility Companies etc., do not normally have to pay a deposit. For most other clients, a refundable deposit is levied against the possibility of any loss or damage to the equipment. Q5... Is the equipment insured whilst on hire? Unfortunately not! Given the range of differing applications, it is not possible for us to arrange insurance cover. It is therefore a clients duty to accept full responsibility for any items being hired, and arrange their insurance accordingly. Q6... I would like to use the CCTV equipment outside of the United Kingdom; is this a problem? This does actually raise two seperate questions ... ... firstly, we are currently only able to hire to a company, organisation or individual that is based in the UK; in this situation, if you wish to use the equipment outside of the country, you may do so subject to our written approval and further conditions. The second question actually relates to the technical suitability of CCTV equipment when used abroad. If the correct power supply is available overseas (e.g. 12v DC), and the equipment is not being linked to any other locally sourced components, then their should'nt be any problem. If however, you wanted to use UK standard equipment (CCIR / PAL) in another country, connected to additional equipment working on the local standard (e.g. EIAJ / SECAM / NTSC), then unfortunately it isn't going to work. Q7... I've secured funding to buy CCTV in this financial year, and I'll have an ongoing maintenance budget in subsequent years; Would their be any advantage in considering Flexible CCTV Hire?. The simple answer is a resounding yes! If the hire package were structured within your allocated budget, typically it may be possible to secure two to four times as much equipment for the same money, within the financial year. In subsequent years, the 'maintenance' budget could be used to continue with most if not all of the equipment on hire. Although you do not own the equipment as a depreciating asset, it's also not an expensive money pit when it comes to ongoing maintenance (there's free service exchange on any faulty items); and remember, you always have the option of upgrading or replacing key items without any hidden penalties. Q8... If I Short Term Hire CCTV equipment and decide I wish to keep using it, what are the options? You can simply extend the hire (subject to our approval) by phone, fax or e-mail, or indeed transfer to the Flexible CCTV Hire facility, if you decide that your requirements are longterm. In this situation, we would calculate the amount of hire charges you've already paid, and then make a discount allowance to reduce down the standard Flexible rates accordingly. Q9... Do the CCTV hire rates include delivery and installation? Unfortunately not ... The whole basis of low cost "pay as you use" is that the equipment is made available on request, and if you need any additional services such as courier delivery, or installation by our approved contractors, this will be charged seperately. By the way, if you hire an analogue Time Lapse Recorder, the high grade videocassettes are not included in the cost. If you want us to supply them, or if you require individually custom labelled tapes suitable for evidential use, this can also be arranged. Q10... What happens if a piece of CCTV equipment fails whilst on hire? In the event of a technical failure, we will make available a free replacement unit which can be collected from our premises, when the faulty item is returned. If you require an urgent replacement by courier or engineer, this can be arranged and is charged accordingly.
